Stargate Clinic Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: April 26, 2025

Stargate Clinic (“we,” “us,” “our”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities in accordance with the Tennessee Information Technology Accessibility Act (T.C.A. § 4-29-201 et seq.) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and the Tennessee Digital Accessibility Standard (TDAS).

1. Scope & Standards

  • Tennessee Requirements: In accordance with T.C.A. § 4-29-202, all state-affiliated websites must meet WCAG 2.1 AA or equivalent standards. Although Stargate Clinic is privately operated, we adopt these best practices.

  • Federal Law: We also follow ADA Title III guidance for “public accommodations” and Section 508 principles for information and communications technology.

2. Accessibility Features

  • Keyboard Navigation: Full site functionality—including menus, forms, and interactive components—is operable by keyboard alone.

  • Semantic Markup & ARIA: We use proper HTML5 semantics (headings, lists, landmarks) and WAI-ARIA roles to ensure compatibility with screen readers and other assistive technologies.

  • Alternative Text: All meaningful images and graphics include descriptive alt text; decorative elements use empty alt attributes (alt="") to be ignored.

  • Contrast & Readability: Text and interactive elements meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1. Font sizes, spacing, and line lengths prioritize readability.

  • Responsive Design & Zoom: Content adapts to various devices and screen sizes. Users may zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

  • Form Labels & Errors: All form controls include clear labels, instructions, and accessible error messages.

3. Ongoing Maintenance

  • Regular Audits: We conduct quarterly accessibility scans and manual reviews to identify and remedy issues.

  • Staff Training: Our web team receives annual training on the Tennessee Digital Accessibility Standard and WCAG best practices.

  • Third-Party Compliance: We work with vendors to ensure embedded content (videos, widgets) meets or exceeds our accessibility requirements.

4. Known Limitations

  • Legacy PDFs: Some older downloadable documents may not be fully tagged for accessibility. We are in the process of replacing key resources with properly tagged PDF or HTML versions.

  • External Widgets: A small number of third-party tools may not fully conform; we are collaborating with those providers to improve accessibility.
